Week 6 of the NFL season continued the hot streak of action packed and thrilling matchups that have been littered everywhere throughout the year. Some major changes in the landscape of both the AFC and NFC occurred, and should have lasting impacts moving forward.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-1) @ Philadelphia Eagles (2-4) (TNF)

Final: Buccaneers-28 Eagles-22

Player of the Game: Leonard Fournette

The versatility of the Tampa Bay offense was on full display Thursday night, showcasing how their RB1 can be just as effective as their deep arsenal of wide receivers. Coming off of a week where Tom Brady and his offense threw all over the Miami Dolphins, Thursday was a change of pace for the team. Fournette was a threat in all aspects of the game, totaling 127 yards, and 2 TD on 28 touches. The Bucs will hope to carry their momentum into week 7 when they host the Chicago Bears.

Thursday night marked the end of an era for Philly Sports. Best TE in team history Zach Ertz was traded Friday morning to the Arizona Cardinals, where he can now compete in the playoff landscape. As for the Eagles, Jalen Hurts showed flashes as he does now in many games. Hurts totaled 3 TD, two of them resulting from rushes. The Eagles will look to find some sort of rhythm with a new look offense, and they have the chance to when they travel to Las Vegas to take on the Raiders.

Miami Dolphins (1-5) @ Jacksonville Jaguars (1-5)

Final: Jaguars-23 Dolphins-20

Player of the Game: Marvin Jones

The Jacksonville Jaguars finally picked up their first win of the season on Sunday morning in England. A back and forth battle all game, Jacksonville’s kicker Matthew Wright hit two clutch field goals, one eventually being the game winner. The Jaguars will be able to gameplan for another hopeful victory next week when they have their BYE.

After being viewed by many as playoff hopefuls, The Miami Dolphins have been a complete and utter disappointment this season, now sitting last in the AFC East. Tua Tagovailoa had a decent performance for his first game back from injury, but a costly turnover derailed the hope of getting a win. The Dolphins will host the Atlanta Falcons next week as they hope to get their season back on track.

Minnesota Vikings (3-3) @ Carolina Panthers (3-3)

Final: Vikings-34 Panthers-28

Player of the Game: Kirk Cousins (Honorable Mention: Dalvin Cook)

Dalvin Cook was a much welcomed return for the Minnesota Vikings offense, who utilized the star running back in an overtime thriller. Kirk Cousins got back on track, earning himself player of the game honors. Cousins and Cook led the way for the Vikings to pick up a very impressive win against a good Panthers team. The Minnesota Vikings will get some rest next week during their BYE.

After starting 3-0, the Carolina Panthers have run off the tracks for now. They have lost three straight with QB Sam Darnold starting to struggle. Starting off ice cold in this game, Darnold could not find any sense of rhythm in the first half. The USC alum led an impressive game tying drive and comeback, but in the end it wasn’t enough to get his team a win. The Panthers will travel to Metlife next week to take on the New York Giants.

Los Angeles Rams (5-1) @ New York Giants (1-5)

Final: Rams-38 Giants-11

Player of the Game: Matthew Stafford (Honorable Mention: Cooper Kupp)

The L.A. Rams continued their hot streak on Sunday, smoking the New York Giants in all aspects of the game. The offense was clicking on all cylinders, and Cooper Kupp continued to prove why he needs more respect. The L.A. defense continued to be stout as well, forcing Daniel Jones to throw 3 INT and lose a fumble. The Rams will look to continue their win streak next week when Matt Stafford faces a blast from the past, to play his former team, the Detroit Lions.

The New York Giants still have not found their identity as a team, as they drop to 1-5 with their loss to the Rams on Sunday. The Giants have been hit with a recent plague of injuries, including players like Saquon Barkley, Kenny Golladay, and now Kadarius Toney. The Giants will look to muster up their second win of the season next week when they host the Carolina Panthers.

Kansas City Chiefs (3-3) @ Washington Football Team (2-4)

Final: Chiefs-31 WFT-13

Player of the Game: Darrel Williams

After a rough start to the season for the Chiefs, this team started off slow against a poor Washington team, and some started to hit the panic button. The Chiefs eventually started to click on offense though, which was enough to get their team a win. Patrick Mahomes continues to be inconsistent and erratic at times, now having 15 INT in his last 15 starts. An area of concern for the team, but luckily they can figure it out after a win, and not a loss. The Kansas City Chiefs will travel to Nashville next week to take on the Tennessee Titans.

On the day of Sean Taylor’s jersey retirement, the Washington Football Team put on an admirable effort in the first half, but fell apart later on. A banged up Antonio Gibson certainly didn’t help Washington’s efforts, but they were shut out in the second half, which doesn’t help them gain any momentum moving forward. Washington will travel to Green Bay next week to take on the Packers.

Cincinnati Bengals (4-2) @ Detroit Lions (0-6)

Final: Bengals-34 Lions-11

Player of the Game: Joe Burrow (Honorable Mention: Joe Mixon)

The Cincinnati Bengals picked up a dominant win on Sunday, continuing their impressive start to the season in a tough division. Joe Burrow returned to his game form after suffering an injury after the game last week. The trio of Burrow, Mixon, and Chase led the way for Cincinnati, securing a victory for their team. The Bengals will travel to Baltimore next week to take on the 5-1 Ravens in a very important AFC North game.

The Detroit Lions remain winless after a tough loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Dan Campbell told the media after the game that his QB Jared Goff has to play better, and if they are going to grab a win, he will have to play better. D’Andre Swift continued to be a consistent playmaker for the Lions. The Detroit Lions will travel to Los Angeles next week to take on the Rams in a game where the QB’s will be the storyline.

Los Angeles Chargers (4-2) @ Baltimore Ravens (5-1)

Final: Ravens-34 Chargers-6

Player of the Game: Baltimore Ravens Defense

The Baltimore Ravens earned a statement win on Sunday with their dominant performance over the L.A. Chargers on Sunday. Lamar Jackson had a somewhat sloppy performance through the air, throwing 2 costly interceptions, but luckily the Ravens defense showed up and shut down a red hot Chargers offense. The Ravens will host the Cincinnati Bengals next week.

The Los Angeles Chargers came out flat on Sunday, with an effort they would like to soon forget. In a hyped game of some of the AFC’s best all week, many were not expecting a game this one-sided. Justin Herbert was shut down all day by Baltimore’s defense, and held them to only 6 points. The Chargers will have next week to refocus and regroup as they have their BYE.

Houston Texans (1-5) @ Indianapolis Colts (2-4)

Final: Colts-31 Texans-3

Player of the Game: Jonathan Taylor

After a heartbreaking loss to the Ravens last week, the Indianapolis Colts regrouped in a thunderous way with a dominant win over the Houston Texans. Carson Wentz continued to ride his good momentum that started last week. Jonathan Taylor carried the load for the Colts offense, totaling 158 yards and 2 TD. The Colts now sit at 2-4 in a division that is wide open for the taking. They will look to climb the rankings of their division when they travel to San Francisco to take on the 49ers for Sunday Night Football.

The Houston Texans continue to be a rebuilding team that is already looking towards the 2022 NFL Draft as a beacon of hope. Davis Mills struggled, throwing 2 INT. Brandin Cooks continued to be one of the only bright spots for this Houston team. The Texans will have their BYE next week.

Green Bay Packers (5-1) @ Chicago Bears (3-3)

Final: Packers-24 Bears-14

Player of the Game: Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers has been causing pain for Chicago Bears fans ever since he was drafted to Green Bay, and on Sunday, he added more salt to the wound. “I own you. I still own you” Rodgers told some Chicago hecklers after he ran in for a TD score. The statement is basically true, as Rodgers has only suffered 5 career losses to the Bears in his long tenure. Rodgers and the Packers are now on a 5 game win streak after suffering their embarrassing week 1 loss, and they’ll look to continue their success when they host the Washington Football Team next week.

The Chicago Bears ran into a tough situation on Sunday when they played their longtime rival Green Bay Packers. Rookie RB Khalil Herbert filled in nicely with David Montgomery and Damien Williams both out. Herbert totaled 112 yards and 1 TD. The Bears will look to return to above .500 when they travel to Tampa Bay to play the Buccaneers next week.

Arizona Cardinals (6-0) @ Cleveland Browns (3-3)

Final: Cardinals-37 Browns-14

Player of the Game: Jameis Winston (Honorable Mention: Alvin Kamara)

The Arizona Cardinals have silenced many of their remaining doubters after their lopsided performance against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins continued to prove why they are one of the NFL’s best QB-WR duos. Murray continued his strong case for MVP, finishing the day with 4 TD. Still the NFL’s only remaining undefeated team, the Cardinals will host the struggling Houston Texans next week.

Baker Mayfield’s recent injuries have slowed down Cleveland’s momentum and their push to win the division. Now sitting at 3rd place in the AFC North, The Browns will face an uphill climb in the coming weeks to have a chance at winning the divisional crown. The Browns lackluster performance on Sunday halted their progress they have been making over the past few weeks, with both Nick Chubb and now Kareem Hunt injured. With Cleveland’s backfield both banged up, the Browns will have to find new solutions for their offense. The Cleveland Browns will host the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football next week.

Las Vegas Raiders (4-2) @ Denver Broncos (3-3)

Final: Raiders-34 Broncos-24

Player of the Game: Kenyan Drake (Honorable Mention: Derek Carr)

After a week of controversy and drama, the Las Vegas Raiders overcame it all, with new head coach Rich Bisaccia leading the way. The Raiders offense returned to form, with Kenyan Drake finally earning the big pay day he was given this offseason. Henry Ruggs III continues to be a point of positivity when talking about the Raiders offense. Las Vegas will host the Philadelphia Eagles next week.

The Denver Broncos have now dropped three straight games after starting the season 3-0. Teddy Bridgewater had a large volume day throughout the air, accounting for 334 yards, 3 TD, and 3 INT. Rookie RB Javonte Williams continues to see his workload increase in the Broncos offense, which is a welcome sight for Denver fans. The Broncos will look to get back in the win column when they travel to Cleveland to take on the Browns Thursday night.

Dallas Cowboys (5-1) @ New England Patriots (2-4)

Final: Cowboys-35 Patriots-29

Player of the Game: CeeDee Lamb (Honorable Mention: Dak Prescott)

The Dallas Cowboys keep on rolling ever since their narrow week 1 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They have been clicking on both offense and defense the entire season. Despite giving up a ton of yards, Trevon Diggs continues to be opportunistic, notching his 7th interception of the season(!) on Sunday afternoon. The Cowboys will look to get some early rest when they get their BYE next week.

The New England Patriots put up an impressive effort against a strong Dallas team, with Mac Jones showing some flashes of potential. Damien Harris had himself a nice game on the ground tallying over 100 yards and 2 TD. New England will host their division rival New York Jets next week.

Seattle Seahawks (2-4) @ Pittsburgh Steelers (3-3)

Final: Steelers-23 Seahawks-20

Player of the Game: T.J. Watt (Honorable Mention: Najee Harris)

Week in and week out, T.J. Watt continues to prove why he was made the NFL’s highest defensive paid player this offseason. Watt tallied two sacks on the day, including a strip sack which put the Steelers in position to hit the game winning field goal. Rookie RB Najee Harris continued his consistent play, being a threat on both the ground and in the pass game. The Steelers will have their BYE next week.

The Seattle Seahawks are suffering greatly from the absence of franchise QB Russell Wilson. With both Wilson and starting RB Chris Carson on IR, the Seahawks struggled to put up a good volume of points against the Steelers defense, and will most likely face the same problem in the coming weeks. The Seahawks will host the New Orleans Saints next week on Monday Night Football.

Buffalo Bills (4-2) @ Tennessee Titans (4-2)

Final: Titans-34 Bills-31

Player of the Game: Derrick Henry

Add another classic to the long list of great prime time games that have been played this season. The Bills and the Titans had a back and forth battle the entire game, with the last play ultimately being the deciding factor. Despite not having big games against the Bills in his career, Derrick Henry ran rampant, accounting for 156 total yards and 3 TD. The Titans goal line stand after a miraculous Josh Allen leap showed the toughness that head coach Mike Vrabel has installed in them. Tennessee will host the Kansas City Chiefs next week.

Josh Allen continued to be spectacular for the Bills, but ultimately was not enough to overcome the poor offensive line and defensive play of the Bills. The Bills WR trio of Diggs, Beasley, and Sanders were efficient this game, all of them racking up over 85 receiving yards, Diggs and Beasley both grabbing TD as well. This game was certainly a heartbreaker for the AFC contender, but the team will surely respond well down the next stretch of their schedule, which is favorable towards Buffalo. The Bills will have time to fix some of their mistakes during their BYE next week.
